AstroDash ("the App") is a free astronomy dashboard built by Blake Scarlavai. This policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and your choices.
If you grant permission, the App accesses your device's approximate location solely to:
Your location is processed on-device and is not transmitted to any server or third party. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.
The App stores your settings (units, notification preferences, favorites) locally on your device using on-device storage. This data never leaves your device.
A future version of the App may include anonymous usage analytics (e.g., which screens are viewed) via PostHog. If enabled, no personally identifiable information will be collected. Analytics can be disabled in the App's settings.
The App fetches publicly available data from the following APIs:
These requests contain only the data needed for the query (e.g., date ranges) and do not include any personal information.
The App may request permission to send local push notifications for event reminders and aurora alerts. These notifications are scheduled entirely on-device. You can disable them in your device settings at any time.
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App is an educational tool that displays publicly available NASA data.
All user data (preferences, favorites, cached API responses) is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the App removes all associated data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
